How Tools Work in WordPress
WordPress gives you three options for importing and exporting posts and comments from many other blogging platforms.

Option 1# Click on Tools
By clicking on the "Tools" menu you can quickly post from your favorite blog, This option gives you the ability to use the Press This and Use This tools.
Option #2 The Press This Tool
The "Press This" function allows quick publishing with a special web browser bookmarklet. You can create a post by quoting some text, images, and videos on any web page.
Option #3 The Use This Tool
The "Use This tool" is used to convert Categories into Tags and vice-versa.
Importing from WordPress
Importing data into your WordPress blog is many times, necessary and useful. If you are moving from another host, or just to starting a new blog, then importing data into your blog may be the answer.

Blogger

Import posts from a LiveJournal XML export file.
Movable Type and TypePad
Import posts and comments from a Movable Type or Typepad blog.

Import posts from an RSS feed.
Tumblr
Install the Tumblr importer to import posts & media from Tumblr using their API.
WordPress
Import posts, comments, custom fields, pages, and categories from a WordPress export file.
Note: If the importer you need is not listed, search the plugin directory to see if an importer is available.
Exporting in WordPress
Exporting your WordPress data (posts, pages, custom post types, comments, custom fields, categories, tags, custom taxonomies, and users) is sometimes necessary and useful. If you are moving to a new host or just want a backup of your site data, then Exporting your site is the answer. Once the Export file is created, that file can be used for import by the Tools Import Screen.
The Tools Export Screen is quite simple, just specify the desired Filters, if any, you wish to apply, and then click the Download Export File button to save that file to your local computer.
